As a child, I never enjoyed eating fruits and vegetables. Pies and tarts have always fascinated me. An unbelievably delicious way of adding fruit to our diets! This comfort dessert may not be the healthiest however (butter butter butter), but I guarantee you, a spoonful will bring colour to your tastebuds ;)

INGREDIENTS -PIE CRUST- 2 1/2 cups flour 1 cup cold butter (cut into cubes) 1 tsp sugar 6 tbsp ice water -FILLING- Pie crust 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 3 cups fresh strawberries 2 tbsp butter

METHOD -PIE CRUST- 1. Add flour, sugar, salt and butter into a bowl and mix with fingertips until a breadcrumb-like structure is obtained. 2. Add water and gently mix until a dough is formed. 3. Divide the dough into two, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 1 hour.

-FILLING- 4. Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Roll out the pie doughs and place one in a nine inch pan. Bake the pie shell for about 10-12 minutes. 5. Mix strawberry chunks, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Pour into baked pie shell.

6. Cut the second piece of dough into long strips and cover the pan in a criss-cross pattern. 7. Place in the oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the crust turns slightly brown.
