a perfect roadtrip itinerary
A land of empty landscapes and stark beauty, Namibia is a dream destination for a roadtrip. Our brief 11-day adventure in a fully equipped 4x4 camper took us from the ancient sands of Sossusvlei to the verdant plains of Etosha. We are already eager to return for more.
In the heart of the Namib Desert, the oldest in the world, Sossusvlei is a strikingly beautiful place. Rolling dunes and desert pans engulfed in an unnerving silence.
Swakopmund is the gateway for adventure and adrenaline. Encircled by a dense morning fog, these whiter dunes stretch as far as the eye can see.
Nothing prepares you for the sound and smell of the largest colony of Cape Fur seals. A pungent aroma and a cacophony of lost pups and brawling males.
and of course there are many that bask in the warm afternoon sun.
Peaks of million-year-old granite rising from the flat desert floor. Our nights were spent beneath a blazing night sky and a rising full moon.
The road north takes us through Damaraland. Home of the desert elephant and a constant source of water for the San people.
At first light, zebra march across the dewy plain toward the waterhole. A lonesome giraffe gracefully lopes toward the fiery African sun.
