Hidden treasures of Milan
Milan, Northern Italy, is my beloved hometown. Well-known mainly for fashion and business, actually it is full of art and culture and there are many hidden treasures that are worth discovering!
One of my favorite hidden treasures is a House Museum, in the heart of the city: CASA BOSCHI DI STEFANO
CASA BOSCHI DI STEFANO was the house of a married couple of art collectors, later donated to the City of Milan, that displays about 300 of the over 2000 works (paintings, sculptures, drawings) of the original collection and represents an extraordinary testimony of the Italian art from the first decade of the 20th century to the 60's.
• • • Artists
Works are by important Italian artists like Boccioni, Carrà, Casorati, De Chirico, Fontana, Funi, Manzoni, Martini, Marussig, Savinio, Sironi.
• • • Architect
The building was built in 1929-1931 by the architect Piero Portaluppi, who enriched the interiors with wide windows and refined details art decò style.
If you wish to know more about the Boschi Di Stefano Collection, the remaining part is now on show at the Museo del Novecento, located inside the Palazzo dell'Arengario in piazza del Duomo.
Casa Boschi Di Stefano is part of the Milan Historic House Museums Network together with: Museo Bagatti Valsecchi Villa Necchi Campiglio Museo Poldi Pezzoli
