Sun Valley Shelter

Alumni 🐾

The organization I am fortunate enough to work for was founded in 1991 by a group of Sun City area residents as a foster-based program to provide adoption opportunities for homeless & abandoned dogs & cats. They couldn't bear to see the amount of homeless and abandoned animals & wanted to start something that would make a difference in the lives of the unfortunate.

The Grey Queen

Leo Di Kitty- is still looking for his forever home. He is a handsome 5 year old red tabby who is a confirmed bachelor, meaning he must be the only animal in the home.

The animals that we intake are housed in a clean, secure environment & given a physical exam. Before being put up for adoption, all are spayed/neutered, microchipped, & given all necessary shots. We have a group of incredibly dedicated volunteers who are invaluable in assisting with the daily care & nurturing of our animals. We are proud to note that in the last several years we have increased adoptions from approximately 150 animals per year to over 700 animals per year. (2010)

A little about us..

The current facility was built in 1995 & can house 70+ dogs and 70+ cats. We keep a much smaller number so that we can truly work with every individual animals special needs and personal growth. The organization receives no government funding & is supported by income from our thrift store profits, adoption fees, membership dues, donations & bequests.

"When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal. I see a living being, I see a friend, I see a soul."
