December #MatExp report
Helen kicked off December with a question ? A deluge of great answers came in reply throughout December
Gill got about a bit!
Catherine , Leigh & I were delighted to present at the Mbrrace London launch
We heard about a brilliant animation to educate other professionals about maternal death click here to watch
Such sad stories with often one over riding message to listen properly to women some of whom asked for help repeatedly
The omens for our presentation were good! I even found this in my lunch pack🍋😊
I think bringing women's voices to this audience was powerful & emotional
The parting message left us plenty to reflect on as we shared a cup of tea at the end of the event. It's so important to speak at these events but to also recognise the emotional cost of doing so & support one another.
Momentum was building for #HopeDec09 an event highlighting the importance of maternal mental health organised by Raja at the House of Commons
There were many amazing speakers brought together for an unforgettable afternoon
Antoinette Sandbach MP shed tears as she shared her own experience of baby loss , so heartfelt
A pretty special afternoon
Back at Kingston I was invited to speak at the SW London supervisors of midwives meeting & spread the messages of Nobody's Patient
A chance to try the new material & discuss action
& try a mince pie fairy cake!
The first Kingston maternity bereavement newsletter came out from lovely Jo our bereavement midwife
Gill & I attended an RCM #BetterBirths by design breakfast, talking the value of co design, like we need persuading😉& hearing great work from teams at
& Lancashire themes of language & listening were strong in both
I couldn't help spotting some exciting socks nearby, whose shoes are these?
An excuse for #MatExp Christmas lunch for Gill & myself a rare treat. We talked so much a GP on the next table joined in!
Sam & I let our hair down at the maternity Christmas party
Bring on 2017
It's already looking pretty exciting!
