From whales & volcanoes
🇪🇸 Tenerife is the biggest of the Canary Islands, but still small enough to see a lot of it in a short amount of time. The island's landscape is insanely diverse and it's also one of the best places in the world to watch whales and the starry night sky all year round. And then there's Spain's highest mountain, that is acually a volcano... Discover it with me! 🐳 & 🌋
Here's where we started our vacation: Beach bar "Las Rocas"
Eat beetroots and goat cheese!
And enjoy the view!
After a day at the beach, make sure to rent a car to explore the mountains!
The streets are insane!
And the flora and fauna changes with every inch of altitude!
Make frequent stops in the mountain villages to explore.
Go up to the Northern coast.
Visit the "Faro de Buenavista del Norte"
It was closed when we were there, but still spectacular to see from below!
And the coastline is impressive as well!
Within a short drive you can visit the 1.000 year old tree "Drago Milanero"!
If it's cloudy at the beach...
...go up to El Teide National Park.
You'll be above the clouds for sure!
That's why it's one of the best places in the world to watch the stars.
Stay until the sun sets...
And be amazed!
The Roques de García are worth a stop as well!
From there you can enjoy the views of Spain's highest mountain!
This was easily my favorite place in Tenerife: Tajao.
Mostly because of this rock formation!
The colors are spectacular.
Another must visit: Playa de Benijo
The black sand comes from the volcanic origin.
For architecture lovers: Visit the "Auditorio de Tenerife"
Calatrava's masterpiece of architecture (and @lionheaded 😉)
From there drive up a few minutes to the North to see Playa de las Teresitas!
Our favorite activity: A whale watching tour!
There's a 100% chance you'll see some!
A pilot whale mother and its baby!
Go in the morning to avoid sun reflections in the water!
