Venice, October 2016
Friday, October 7
The beautiful autumn weather continues. The changing light in Venice as the day progresses is stunning. Away from the thousands of tourists to be found around St Mark's Square, I set off to explore Cannaregio.
The local pulse of Venice can be felt here
Fascinating little stores and sidewalk cafés line the canals.
I had connected online with Arianna of Plum Plum Creations. Arianna is one of the few Venetian artists who still prints as they used to do in the 15th century. She welcomed me warmly and took me through a whole print session of an etching.
She also has wonderful YouTube videos showing her process.
I asked her to explain to me how to get to the spot which had inspired the etching we worked with, and then set off to photograph it.
The rest of the day was spent exploring the calles of Cannaregio, soaking in the sights and sounds.
The second opening of FUTURE LANDSCAPES took place in the Venice Art House in the evening.
Chatting to other artists.
