Lake St Claire National Park, Tasmania
This July we visited Cradle Mountain National park in Tasmania. 🌲 Just a short 2.5 hour drive from Launceston
Our home for the weekend was a cosy cabin in the forest
The road at the entrance of the park
We spent the weekend exploring the park via the range of walking tracks.
The Dove Lake Circuit which is one of the shorter walks, provides some spectacular views.
The Boat shed at Crater Lake
We made some new and inquisitive friends along the way, including some cheeky Currawongs
The hike up to Marion's lookout was slightly more steep. But even though we couldn't see much through the fog of the areas below, it was well worth the effort for the stunning scenery shrouded in a misty haze. 🌬
"We need the tonic of wilderness. We can never have enough of nature".
HENRY DAVID THOREAU
We hiked back down via the wombat pool (aka 'the moon door')
Finally after a foggy morning the sun peeked out from behind the haze to reveal the dazzling greens of the surrounding forest.
Not only were the views spectacular, but we saw countless adorable wombats foraging in the dewy grass
There's nothing better than to come home to a cosy cottage and roaring fire after a day's hiking
We were sad to farewell this beautiful place but we know we will definitely be back!
