Food Photography Workshop

Helsinki, Finland June 2016

I have just completed a two day food photography workshop in Finland with my great friend, top Finnish food photographer, stylist and cookery writer, Mari Moilanen. It's the second workshop we've run together and we are doing another one in August. Our location was an amazing cabin in the woods outside Helsinki called Humppaliiteri

We were joined, like last year, by Chef Santeri from Tampere who, alongside all the photography, got everyone involved in all the cooking. Amazing things were done...a japanese inspired grilled cucumber salad with bonito flakes and spruce smoked cauliflower being just two of the highlights.

On day two our participants were set the challenge of photographing wine, which was all kindly supplied by one of our sponsors, 'Social Wines' of Helsinki.

And obviously, as well as photographing it, we were forced to drink some as well... So in line with my rule of learning the most important words first... Kippis! (Which is 'cheers' and, along with hello & goodbye is the only word in the impossibly difficult Finnish language I can say...)

And here are our lovely, talented group

We'll be doing more workshops in Finland in August 2016 And in 2017 so... To find out more please visit - To find out more about Mari Moilanen please visit her website & Her blog
