Bali is one of the world’s premier holiday destinations. It is crammed with stunning resorts, so selecting some resorts was no easy task. the choices Below range from Beachside to jungle-side, from classic to the just-opened. These are the personal choice after long deliberation and based from that personal collective wisdom.

Hanging Gardens Ubud

A sea of trees surrounds the 3.2 ha resort, which has 38 villas that are all constructed in contemporary Balinese design and are situated in a steep 45-degree angled hillside, which give resort its name. The guest experience starts with a trip down to the resort using one of its two funiculars, with the first funicular going from reception to the villas and the second funicular from the bar to the riverside to reach its café and spa area. The split-level infinity pool near the bar and restaurant is the main charm of the resort. One remarkable feature is the mist coming off the valley surrounding the resort early in the morning, giving the impression of floating in a cloud. Two recommended units are the 160 sqm panoramic villa suites.

Regent Bali SANUR

Located on the Sanur eastern coastline, currently it is the only luxury beachfront resort in the area. Nestled in four ha of lush tropical gardens, it features 94 suites and 25 villas with private pools; each boasts contemporary Balinese-style interiors, spacious living rooms and sea or tropical garden views. The villas are all two story structures that come in one, two or three bedrooms, and features their own carports. The resort’s signature villa is the 937 sqm beachfront two-bedroom villa with a generous private 130 sqm swimming pool, private Jacuzzi, individual spa treatment room with a steam-room for two alongside the pool, separate dining and living areas and two luxurious bathrooms with a lavishly spacious lunar bathtubs. The villa overlooks the island of Nusa Lembongan and the Indian Ocean.

Samabe Bali Suites & Villas

The newest resort in the list, it is located on the edge of a cliff in Nusa Dua. The eight ha resort has 39 suites and 42 villas, featuring modern and contemporary design with a Balinese touch. The two-bedroom penthouse pool villa nestles on the top of the suites buildings, featuring the best ocean view from the resort, with its own plunge pool.

The biggest accommodation in the resort is the two-story, 1,500 sqm Royal Samabe Residence, which has a panoramic view of the ocean and features two bedrooms, two master bathrooms, living and dining room, bar, and three guest bathrooms. It also has a courtyard for parties.

W Retreat & Spa

Located in the lifestyle hub of Bali in Seminyak, it reinterprets Balinese design with a contemporary twist, with pop art touches throughout the resort in all 158 suites and villas. Even if you party all night, you can recover anytime you like as the spa is open 24 hours. It also provides fancy rentals from Vespas, Mini Coopers, to a posh BMW SUV.

If you prefer more privacy, you can also party at the villas, with the Extreme Wow three-bedroom villa being the largest with 625 sqm.

Royal Santrian

Owned by the royal family of Sanur, the 2.5 ha resort can be quickly reached from the airport. Simplicity is the main appeal of the resort—with only 20 villas it is very suitable for an intimate getaway. With a modern luxury Balinese concept, the interior and exterior are pleasing to the eye with its simplicity

Each of the villas has a private garden, pool and an open-air gazebo with a large day bed. The top experience is the three Royal Villas, each of which is a beachfront villa, with a private garden, a large pool, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, an open air gazebo with a large day bed and a glass paneled jacuzzi overlooking the ocean.

Bulgari Resort

The Bulgari is a clifftop resort located 150 meters over the sea, with a lobby that has a stunning view of the Indian Ocean. The resort features a combination of Italian and Balinese design. Each of the 59 villas has a private garden, a pool and an outdoor living room of 300 sqm.

For the best experience, the Premier Ocean View Villas are recommended. Positioned at a higher elevation than the other villas, they offer a better view of ocean’s vastness, making relaxing at its plunge pool or its daybed a more scenic experience.

Four Seasons Resort Bali

Located beside Ubud’s Ayung river, this resort has 18 suites and 42 villas. The resort’s enchantment begins when you enter the lobby by crossing a wooden footbridge to a building shaped like a gigantic lotus pond located above the lush valley. The villas are sunken with lily ponds on its roof, with stairs down to enter the villa. The riverfront villa is the place to stay, as it is situated next to the river.

St. Regis Bali Resort

The first resort from the brand in Asia that opened six years ago. The signature grand staircase features various flowers’ scents. It features 123 suites and villas on nine ha of land, it offers luxurious Balinese design in the exterior and interior, complemented by one of the finest restaurants in Bali with the Kayuputi.
