Mount Kerinci is the highest volcano in Indonesia. Located in the heart of Jambi, one of the provinces in the island of Sumatra. The volcano stands 3,805 m (12,484 ft). It surrounded by lush forest of Kerinci Seblat National Park, the home to the endangered species of Sumatran Tiger and Sumatran Rhinoceros.
Me vs The Highest Volcano in Indonesia
I've hiked Mt. Kerinci twice. First was in 2013 and the second was in 2015. So this post is basically a throw back ;) Mount Kerinci can be climbed from the village of Kersik Tuo, 9 Hours drive from Padang (By Car). To reach the summit and back to the village, normally it takes 2 days 1 night. Altought the track is quite 'open', you will need a guide because there are some cases of people disappearing.

Arrived at the camp area around 5 pm, followed by the rain and my hope to enjoy the sunset at the high ground was vanished . We camp at Shelter 2 and around 6 pm the rain stopped and fortunately there was a bit sunset atmosphere seen behind the clouds. At that moment the colors of the sky's so amazing!

Night sky after the rain.
The summit attack started from shelter 2 (3,072 m) at 3 am. Cold & strong wind. With the hope to watch the sunrise at the summit of Mt. Kerinci. Along the way, there were some magnificent sceneries/ views, Gunung Tujung Lake, the sea of clouds etc.
