Hotel Report

La Mamounia Marrakech, Morocco

Consistently rated as one of the best hotels or resorts on any continent, this almost 100 year old property is within the 12-century ramparts surrounding the old medina. Michelin-starred cuisine and a 27,000 square foot spa helped me to fall in love on my very first day. The latest renovation of this former palace was done by Parisian designer Jacques Garcia & sometimes required the skill of 1,000 artisans at once.

Guest suites are as intricately designed as the hotel's public spaces. I felt as if I was a Moroccan princess.

Indoor and outdoor pools satisfy the needs of every type of visitor.

The hotel features an Italian, Moroccan and French restaurant, the later which occasionally features cuisine by visiting chefs from such countries as Thailand. The Churchill Bar with live piano is a must at night. Onsite shopping includes Prada & Dior and a new luxury boutique with logo-emblazoned leather goods. After dark the 17-acre garden becomes an enchanting, romantic place for moonlight wanders.
