• Baking gingerbread is always something I do at Christmas time... • I've tried many recipes over the years, all yum, but this one requires a firm gingerbread recipe in order for the ribbon threading to be successful... • I've included a recipe on the last page if you don't already have a favourite of your own X
Mix...roll out...cut out...bake...
Decorate and thread ribbon...
125gm unsalted butter softened 1/2 cup brown sugar 2/3 cup golden syrup 2 1/2 cups plain flour sifted 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 teaspoon bi-carbonate of soda • Method • Preheat oven to 160 C (375F) Place butter, sugar in bowl, beat for 8-10 min until pale and creamy. Add golden syrup, flour, ginger and bicarb and beat until a smooth dough. Roll out onto baking paper to 4mm thickness and cut out shapes including ribbon holes. Place on lined trays and bake for 6-8 min or until golden. Allow to cool. Use royal icing in piping bag to decorate. Thread ribbon..done! Enjoy! X
