In beautiful Wanaka at Bistro Gentil

" People who love to eat are always the best people". - Julia Child With views over the snow-capped mountain peaks of Wanaka, we dined at Bistro Gentil on an inspired menu, in warm ambience and with the greatest company.

Delicious Elderflower mocktails were first on the menu.

Or Cranberry with Mint & a hint of Wasabe!

The first entrée, 40 degreeC Salmon with Smoked Horseradish Cream and Squid-Ink Crackers.

Each course arrives to our table beautifully and delicately presented. The Chef creates edible works of art with the most amazing textures and combinations.

Followed by Free Range Pork Rillette with Pickled Vegetables and Quince Paste (For the vegetarians the chef created beautiful Warm Goats Cheese and Jersey Benne Salad, which was eyed-off by even the meat-eaters at our table!)

By now we were all in foodie-heaven and the mains to follow continued to delight our palates!

Cardrona Merino Lamb rump, Cauliflower Salsa Verdi and Lamb Croquette

Parisienne Gnocchi with Asparagus, Shallots, Kale & Thyme cream

The vegetarian options are certainly not second-rate here! Delicious!!

And finally, Lemon Cremeux with Elderflowers and Oamaru Strawberries. Divine!

The greenhouse at Bistro Gentil provides many of the fresh ingredients for the delicious and artfully presented menu.

We met some really beautiful and like-minded people in breath-taking Lake Wanaka and have made some new friends for life. All whilst sampling the finest and most delicately crafted food that this stunning region has to offer .What an unforgettable and glorious afternoon! X
