The alley of the kiss

Guanajuato is a world heritage site and a charming and picturesque city in the state of Guanajuato in Mexico.

Guanajuato's stairways, tunnels, music, cobblestone alleyways, and colorful facades, transport the visitor to a different and enchanting world.

Cobblestone alleyways

Beautiful and colorful tiles...

Culture: music ( la estudiantina y la callejoneada.) La callejoneada is a walking serenade led by student musicians who strum guitars, serenade bystanders and recite local tales

Colorful facades

Color everywhere.

...Guanajuato is home to the El Cervantino festival: an international performing arts festival named in honor of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of Don Quixote

El teatro Juárez ( home to El Cervantino.)

But Guanajuato is not only alleys, tunnels, hills, colorful facades, and el Cervantino, Guanajuato is also stories, myths and legends. *************** And I came after the latter, especially one legend.

The alley of the kiss ( are you shaken, are you stirred, by a whisper of love? )

True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hair and is always young in the heart. {#HonoreDeBalzac)

...the alley of the kiss

The alley of the kiss is a tragic love story. Two lovers fell madly in love. He was Don Luis, a poor miner, and she was Dona Ana, a wealthy lady. Dona Ana's father opposed the relationship and threatened to send Dona Ana to Spain to marry a wealthy man. ️Don Luis felt desperate and given that alleyways are so narrow, he dreaded seeing his beloved from the opposite balcony. But Dona Ana's father found the couple. He grew very violent and stabbed his daughter with a dagger. Don Luis was shocked and holding Dona Ana's hand, he kissed the smooth hand until the hand grew pale and lifeless. ... Afterwards, don Luis killed himself by throwing himself from the mine he worked for.

the legendary alley of the kiss

...and the legend says that lovers that visits Guanajuato must visit the alley of the kiss....

...the couple should stand in the third step ( the red one) and kiss each other. If the couple does, 15 years of good luck will follow that relationship. 💋❤️💋❤️💋💋❤️💋❤️

..and couples from every corner of the world ( oh yes, the world sounds like a good word to use) not only kiss, but also leave a lock in the balcony (with their names on it) to insure their love will last forever and ever until the end of times.

Oh Beloved, take me. Libérate my soul. Fill me with your love and Release me from the two worlds. If I set my fire on anything but you Let fire burn me from inside {#Rumi}

Guanajuato you are alleys...

Guanajuato you are history...

you are legends.
