Sailing the Bahamas

2015

Last winter we threw off the bowlines and followed a dream....

We cruised the gin-clear water of the Bahamas in our sailboat....

This is the sailboat...

Windsong II, a Hunter 356

This is the Captain...

This is me...aka the Admiral

The Bosun

This was our route...

We navigated 200 nautical miles from Florida to Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas...it took us 8 days because we needed to wait for good weather...and then we went back....

We left Florida behind....

As we crossed the Gulf Stream...

This is our buddy boat Overdraft... We looked out for each other...

The Captain and Bosun...

Checking the weather with our iPad...

We had calm days...

We had perfect days...

We had stormy days...

It's always more fun with friends....

Including our friend the sea turtle...

the dolphin

and the manatee...

So many pristine beaches like Tahiti Beach, Elbow Cay

Gorgeous anchorages

Windsong II anchored in Hopetown Harbour....Elbow Cay Lighthouse is in the background...it's one of the last real lighthouses in the world...

"That's our boat!"

Great meals....

Friendly cruisers....

Anchored in Marsh Harbour

This was the car-equivalent...

There's more to life than sailing...Let me know when you find it...
