Caption: I've been traveling the Everest region for the last 10 years for climbing, culture and art. Here is a window into the world I have experienced below the world's highest peak.

Caption: I first came to Nepal in 2001 for a language study program. I knew in the back of my head it was a place I wanted to come back to time and time again.

Caption: The first few trips to the Everest (Khumbu) region were just for climbing. We sought out technical first ascents on 6000M peaks where it was just two of us climbers, a single rope, and the packs on our backs.

Caption: Then I returned to teach climbing to Sherpas and other Nepalis so that they could be safer while guiding on Everest

Caption: My next big trip to the Khumbu wasn't about the climbing but was purely focused on shooting time-lapse and cultural video for the @sherpascinemas film "Into The Mind".

Caption: I was traveling with @SherpasCinema director @DaveMossop. It was such a pleasure to watch him experience it all for the first time.
Video
Caption: Important note: A Sherpa with a capital S is not a porter but an ethnicity of people who live in this region. With lower case s, a sherpa can also be a specialized high altitude porter.
Video
Caption: Our most ambitious shot was a crazy motion control timeless that revealed Everest from the back of a cave at 18k feet.

Caption: I was even lucky enough to start working on a big landscape painting on that trip
Picture
Caption: Finally my most recent trip with @camp4collective and @thenorthface was another creative endeavor. We wanted to show an aerial perspective of the roof of the world with some exciting new camera technology.

Caption: A month after we returned home an earthquake devastated Nepal. Some of the villages we had spent time in don't even exist anymore.

Caption: To know Nepal is to love her. The majesty of her mountains inspires awe and a reassuring sense of perspective. The grace of her people floods your heart with the buoyant certainty that we are all kin. Together, we need to remind the world that in the wake Nepal's recent tragedy, her loveliness remains.

Picture
Caption: Nepal urgently needs tourism to return, and she needs long-term financial support for reconstruction. For both, the world needs to see beyond the destruction. We hope that you will join us in sharing your own words, images and visions of Nepal’s cultures and landscapes with the hashtag #NEPALiLOVEYOU. And, we hope that you will use your powerful voice to spread the word.
