A YEAR IN THE GARDEN
I'm in love with so much in the garden at any given moment but I wanted to think about the one thing that captured the month. Something that spoke to the mood and joy of that moment. Suprisingly it hasn't always been something in flower or leaf. Sometimes it was as simple as a seed head or a stack of bulbs.
Crocosmia seeds. In late summer these become lush tropical giants.

Spring may be the official start of the season of growing. Indeed that is when many notice growth for the first time in the year with the first burst of colour. However, for a gardener spring is thought about months beforehand. The planning starts in late summer the previous year when thoughts turn to ordering bulbs for the coming season. While sunflowers bloom, as gardeners, we are quietly already dreaming in tulips.
