Award winning olive oil

South Africa has a longstanding reputation for producing exquisite olive oil. The olive oil industry here came to life in the early 1900's when Ferdinando Costa, a highly qualified agriculturist from Italy, imported scions of the best Italian cultivars and planted olive trees in Paarl.

Costa pressed his first olive oil in 1935. His name is still synonymous with olives and olive oil in South Africa.

Willow Creek Estate

In the beautiful Nuy Valley between Worcester and Robertson in the Western Cape lies Willow Creek Olive Estate.

The farm was first cultivated in the late 1700's by Johannes Stephanus Rabie, but olive trees were only planted here in 1999, with the first olive oil being pressed in 2002.

Today the estate comprises 260Ha planted with over 200,000 olive trees.

Willow Creek has become South Africa's only olive oil producer to secure a foothold in the Top 100 list compiled by World Ranking Extra Virgin Olive Oils. A ranking of #33 on the Top Producers list has established them as world players and their 2014 Director's Reserve is listed as one of the best in the world.

Willow Creek have also taken home awards in the L'Orciolo D'Oro competition in Italy and the Terra Olivo Mediterranean International Olive Oil Competition.

In addition, the Director's Reserve won a gold medal at the 2015 New York International Olive Oil Competition and received 94% at FlosOlei 2015.

"While awards prove the quality of our products, for us the best prize of all is sharing our passion with olive oil lovers around the world."
