All we need
As I was growing up and having fun in my twenties, I didn't have a huge desire to have kids. Hell, I didn't have any desire. I told my mom I wasn't having kids. I wasn't the typical girl who wanted to settle down and have the traditional life. Not me. Nope. I was having too much fun.
Going out with my girlfriends. Having the best time... Then, one night I met a man. In a (gasp!) bar. The man that would change my life.
And we had a lot of fun camping, backpacking, going to Mexico and to the beach. Which was perfect. Because he didn't want kids either. So we could just continue to have fun.
He took me backpacking for the first time. I loved every minute of it.
We loved camping together.
And then, after years of fun, he had a friend fly us to one of our favorite places (Tahoe) where he proposed.
It was a total surprise. He had a limo come to my work and take me to the Palo Alto airport where he was waiting for me. I was like, "What is going on?!" He had even gone to my apartment and packed my bag (and my favorite coffee!) for the weekend.
We had a few bumps in the road up until the actual date, but we had the funnest wedding ever at Ventana in Big Sur.
And I might have started to get that feeling a few months after that... Maybe one baby?
The more we hung out with my niece and nephew, the stronger that feeling became. For the both of us.
And we decided we wanted that. I told him we needed to start soon because it took some women years to get pregnant and once we started trying, I was pregnant 4 weeks later. Hehe! : ) Here we go...
She was so sweet and cute and I couldn't believe she was ours. Going to her crib in the morning was like having Christmas every day. I was ok with getting up several times a night because it meant I could hold her and stare at her.
Pretty much the best decision ever.
First day of kindergarten. I cried in my car after I dropped her off.
And she totally got it. Everything. We couldn't have asked for a cooler kid.
Her papa teaches her cool things in the garage. And I teach her about photography.
And she's an amazing athlete and gets straight A's.
I have taken thousands of photos of her over the years which makes it so hard to choose. I love all of them. She is a great subject.
