This past weekend, @cory_harmon and I explored Utah's Wasatch Mountain Range. Our quest was simple, summit Pfeifferhorn, aka "Little Matterhorn"
We started at Red Pine trail head, elevation 7650 feet Pfeifferhorn summit, 11,326
We shared the trail with this back country ripper.
Before we continue... Pfeifferhorn is pronounced /FY- fur/ Or, as in Michelle Pfeiffer
Our back country skier friend was in a hurry. ...we were not.
We continued on our way to Red Pine Lake, and then on to Pfeifferhorn Peak.
Within a few miles we were greeted by snow pack, and met up with our back country skier friend.
Wait... Swipe back one. Do you hear that noise? That's the sound of rushing water beneath the snow.
We arrived at Red Pine Lake with Pfeifferhorn Peak in the distance with knife-edge ridge to the right.
Pfeifferhorn Peak. Elev 11365 ft.
Drunken Trees caused by unstable earth.
We decided not to summit due to unstable snow. Pfeifferhorn, you won this round. We'll be back soon for that summit. ...to be continued.
