Who says art can't change a local economy?
Not too long ago, Fogo Island's economy was solely based on fishing and was at the mercy of stock and bureaucrats' regulations. But when the government tried to close it down, the people came together, started their own fishing cooperative and worked their way to self-sustainability.

Alongside, a few years ago, an island native, Zita Cobb, initiated this community project which revolves around art and brings international awareness to the island.
The stunning, highly attractive architecture is authored by a Newfoundland native Todd Saunders.
Resident artists' studios are scattered across the island.
The weather can be cold and harsh but the people are warm and friendly
