Caption: Larry Leonaitis 1948 - 2015 DAD
Caption: Larry Leonaitis died on Thursday, April 23 surrounded by his family, ending his seven year battle with colon cancer. Larry showed us what true strength is facing each challenge and diagnosis with determination and his neverending scientific curiosity. He taught us how to handle adversity with grace and unlimited spirit for life.

Caption: He was a wonderful man, full of fun with a masterful wit, a good husband and father. Leo lived as we all should: full of exuberance with a lotta love and always, always pushing the envelope. He loved adventuring whether camping in the Arctic Circle, hiking the Appalachian Trail, motorcycling across the U.S and Europe and anywhere he could find interesting geology or people.
Picture
Caption: He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. It was hard to find a book he hadn’t read and you would never catch him without a pocket knife.
He grew up in Buckhead alongside Lance, Luke and Gloriann. As an adult he worked with his father as coowner of P & L Printing Co, printing the last of the paper bowling sheets in the country.

Caption: He, Katie, Cat and Latham moved to Snowmass in the early 90’s in search of a more bucolic life where big blue skies and rocky horizons loomed. Larry forged a new career, diving into the world of snowboarding as a pro when his next youngest colleague was 20 years his junior. He got his master electrician’s license and opened his own shop.

Caption: He was loved by all he met and will be missed terribly.
He will be remembered with every snowfall, every summer breeze and every fall apple harvest.
