My Breast Cancer Self Portraits

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear."

-Ambrose Redmond

Before diagnosis

My son- in law shaving my head

My daughter shaves her head for me, breaks my heart

Treatment begins and transforming a new self, finding a wig

Wig #2

The worst of the treatments are behind me. My hair is starting to come in. "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." - Dr.Seuss

Me and my best friend. Tigar is a rescue, but I think he rescued me.

Tiger also tried my wig, for size

I wanted to share my pics, to send a virtual hand of support to anyone that has been newly diagnosed, or surviving breast cancer. Each journey is as individual as you are. Trauma doesn't pick and choose, it almost always leaves a scar, it's how you handle the scars. I take my scars as my souvenirs, not as wounds. While you battle your journey remember your strength comes from within.
