The granitic plutons of southern Idaho are comprised of some of the oldest rock in the United States. As much as 2.5 billion years old, the spires of City of Rocks National Reserve command respect. But it's not just age that bends the knee of adulation; hundreds of world-class climbs have been established over the last couple decades, with everything from perfect splitters to technical slabs.
