The Wolfsschlucht is
mostly narrow and
divides the Hockstein
into two differently
sized single rocks.
The rock walls are
partly interspersed
with quartz veins. The
difference in height is
overcome on many iron
steps. The entrance is
an artificially pointed
'gothic' rock gate.
Until 1822 when the
Devil's Bridge was
built, the
Wolfsschlucht was the
only access to the
Hockstein.
