Whenuakura, also know as Donut Island, is a
small island, in Whangamata, New Zealand.
Whenuakura wildlife sanctuary was a local
secret for a long time, but is now a must do
for people visiting the area.
The island has a beautiful lagoon, which can
only be accessed through a narrow entrance
by kayak or paddle board.
As it is a protected area, you are advised not
wander too far, and stay close to the lagoon.
