when the clouds
touch the earth
,
I’ve shared a few stories now from this
pond, and usually in lovely light, but
Saturday offered a different mood as we
walked at the ash lagoons. It had been a
damp, grey and foggy day, a dreich day,
but we wanted to get out for some air.
This walk is so familiar now after all
these weeks, but it felt different again.
The air was heavy, as if we were walking
through a cloud, and the place was quiet
- quieter than it’s been for weeks. And
when we arrived at the pond, the swans
were there, floating in the haar.

After leaving the pond, we headed
along the gorse-lined path that skirts
the bird reserve. While this isn’t a
photogenic stretch of this walk, I
love the textures here.

The path wraps round to the sea
wall, where we paused, gazing
out across the Forth, shrouded
in the haar, listening to the
waves crashing below.
