SWIT
ZER
LAND
,
I went to Switzerland in the summer of
1994. This is the house I lived in with
my lovely host family.
Chézard
,
And the local street.
,
This the neighborhood pool where all the kids
hung out all day all summer long. I would get a
Nestle ice cream cone at the snack bar every time
we went. One night, a group of us walked here
and hopped the fence to hang out. I had my first
taste of Malibu and Coke. My host mom had
made us cake to take with us to soak up the
alcohol.
,
One weekend, we traveled by train to my host
sister’s grandparents house in Bern. Pictured: my
host mom and sisters.
Zytglogge
,
I snapped this shot from the
window in her grandparents’
bathroom.
Bern
,
Then just me and my host sister took the
train to the family cabin in Mürren. The
train ride up was unlike anything I’d ever
experienced.
Lauterbrunnen
,
And the Alpine views were unlike
anything I’d ever seen.
Mürrenbachfall
,
And how about this view of Jungfrau
from the living room of their chalet!
Jungfraujoch
,
Another weekend, we went to
Paris! This is 16-year-old me.
Moulin Rouge
,
Switzerland has held a
special place in my heart
since 1994. I’ve been trying
to get back ever since.
