It was a Friday in March, and Richard
was off work so we headed down the coast
to one of our favourite walks at
Ravensheugh Sands, taking the longer
route through the woods and around St
Baldred’s Cradle before winding down to
the beach.

This is one of my favourite views,
looking out across the bay to John Muir
Country Park. The two sections of beach
on this walk have entirely different
characters, from this rocky shoreline
to the pristine sands of Ravensheugh.

This beach, this moment. This beautiful
light and that looming cloud suggesting
that rain might be on the way. Don’t be
fooled by the sunshine - remember this
was March and that wind you hear was
chilly. Harris running free and happy.
Bracken was here too, a little behind
me. This freedom, surrounded by nature.
This is what I’m looking forward to.

Until next time Ravensheugh.
