This cathedral was built during the 11th century, but only the semi-circular apse and the campanile have been preserved. Its asymmetrical facade was remade in the 13th century. It has three galleries of white and green marble columns and is of Pisan Romanesque style.
The church was built over the ancient Roman forum from the 12th to the 14th century. Its superb Pisan Romanesque facade has four floors of galleries with columns and a varied ornamentation.
The Piazza dell’Anfiteatro is an elliptical town square. It was built on the remains of a Roman amphitheater. Its stones were used to build the palaces and churches of the city.
