Also known as the most romantic among Italian lakes, the small Lake Orta is a true love story.
Here I love to spend “la domenica” with my family. We walk up to Sacro Monte di Orta to enjoy a picture-perfect view of Isola di San Giulio. We take a boat and explore the tiny villages around the lake, where young lovers spend their romantic afternoons. We always bring with us a good book and we love to stroll through the streets of Orta to enjoy all the magic of this place.
Listed among the UNESCO world heritage sites, the Sacred Mount of Orta is dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. Placed on the summit of a hill overlooking Lago d’Orta, it’s a great place to enjoy views over Isola di San Giulio.
I come here when I want some romance. Separated from Lake Maggiore by Monte Mottarone, this beautiful lake inspired many novelists and writers, from Gianni Rodari to Honoré de Balzac.
