Or better, a fairytale. Last summer I did a 5 days road trip around Istria, a region of Croatia.
Over there we explored wild beaches, green hills, roads immersed in nature, super tiny villages, and we tasted local delicious food too.
Thanks to this “time to rest”, I’ve finally had the chance to go through my archives and collect some pictures of the spots and moments I loved the most. Hope you’ll enjoy!
Narrow streets, tall colorful houses, rocks that go directly into the sea. The architecture and the style of this town reminded me of different other cultures and architectures, from the Ligurian colors to the Venetian houses.
• aperitif and sunset at Valentino • maps and souvenirs of Mediterraneo • the view of the town from the harbor
A small village on top of a hill in the middle of the Istrian countryside. Grisignana is also known as a shelter for musicians. Walking around you’ll easily hear them playing different instruments.
DON’T MISS
• the colorful doors, windows and façades of the pretty houses • the stunning view from the viewpoint behind the main square
Istria inland hides some pearls: these villages in the heart of the peninsula show the real soul of the country. We spent a full day driving from one village to another, tasting the cuisine, talking with locals and listening to stories.
DON’T MISS
• Motovun: it is a perched medieval village, you will reach the historical center walking up a long stair through the typical houses - the view is amazing • Hum, also known as the smallest village in the world. Highlights: the little church, the stone houses and the truffle Fuzi (typical pasta) from “Humska Konoba” • Pazin and the Zipline : don’t be scared, it’s great to fly
