Giethoorn is a mostly car-free village in
the northeastern Dutch province of
Overijssel. It’s known for its boat-filled
waterways, footpaths, bicycle trails and
centuries-old thatched-roof houses. It
borders a section of the Weerribben-
Wieden National Park, which we
kayaked through. So beautiful.

We kayaked from the village through
another village and into the nature
preserve. Our phones were in pouches
so sorry for the fuzzy bits. ;)
,
,
In the nature preserve there were so many
birds. And sheep! It took about 3 hrs to
navigate around and back to the start. The
village is one way. So go with the flow.

The channels flows into a large lake.
In the middle is this beautiful island.
Fun Fact: this island was a pit stop on
the Amazing Race Season 31.
