THERE'S A
LEGEND
FROM THIS PART OF THE DOLOMITES.
,
Once upon a time, King Laurin, a ruler in the Dolomites
mountains had a beautiful garden full
of blossoming roses.

The king loved his garden very much and would
take care of it day & night.
,
In another part of the Alpine mountains lived Simidle, the
beautiful daughter of the King on the River Etsch.

One day her father decided to host a party and invite all the
nobleman in hope that one of them might marry Simidle.

However, he failed to invite King Laurin.
,
King Laurin was furious to know he had not been invited
and devised a plan to sneak in the party using
his magical cloak.

Upon seeing the princess, he instantly fell in love. He
kidnapped her and hurried back home.

It didn't take long for the knights to figure out the culprit
was the one who was not invited.
,
The knights got there and saw the king trying
to escape under his magical cloak but was
given away by the footprints on the
rose petals as he walked.
He turned around and laid a curse on his very own
garden which he believed had betrayed him:

"Neither by day nor by night should
anyone again glimpse this lovely sight."
,
Despite the curse, Laurin had forgotten the time between
day and night: twilight. And that's why even today, the
stone rose garden of King Laurin blazes pink at sunset.
You just have to be there when the
clouds make way.
