The Convent of Christ was initially a
Templar fortress built during the 12th
century. It is located in the city of
Tomar and is considered one of the
most important historical and artistic
buildings of Portugal. Indeed, its
architecture combines Romanesque,
Gothic, manueline, Renaissance,
mannerist and Baroque styles.

The Templars’ oratory was completed in
1190 in Romanesque style. The Gothic
and manueline paintings and frescoes
represent biblical scenes.
