In truth, I prefer photographing
gloomy skies to blue, and while
sunshine is uplifting for the mind,
there’s something about walks like
this, when the skies are moody, with
these heavy clouds looming over the
sea. There’s a calmness to this gloom.
These photos are from an evening walk
along the beach that stretches from
North Berwick to Yellowcraig. It was
almost too dark for photos, but
wherever there was colour, the low
light seemed to intensify the hues,
from the lichen-covered rocks, where
the ochre hues almost seemed to glow,
to the subtle purple tones later in
this story.
